about the artist
Trained in both traditional and conceptual art, Cristina graduated with her BFA from The College of New Jersey. After receiving a Thomas George Artist Fund Award early in her career, she launched into full-time production of work in 2011. One year later she moved her art practice to Charlottesville, Virginia. With a growing heart for community, she began to speak into issues of identity, brokenness, reconciliation and restoration.
For Cristina, the power of visual and verbal communication always existed side by side. After discovering the intersection of art and ministry while serving as a Shalom Art Fellow at All Souls Church, she joined the staff of Hope Church Richmond. Her journey has allowed her to not only create, but speak, write, and passionately develop a voice through digital media and strategic communication. Following a time in nonprofit financial development, Cristina took a job as an editor and writer for Salem Web Network.
It was a life-altering season of illness that turned her attention to art once more. After an unexpected experience of healing, she is approaching her work, and life, anew. If she’s not writing, creating, or sharing stories over coffee, you’ll most likely find her with her husband, Ben—either exploring Richmond or planning their next adventure abroad.
